- Hi/Bonjour Utent:Lyokoï,
- we must consider that the Capello dictionary (1814) is the 2nd Piedmontese dictionary , after Pipino (1783) and just before Zalli (1815).
- The piedmontese orthography, detailed at page XI ("Méthode"), is quite corrected, the only differences with the "historic" (now "standard") orthography are the following:
- Capello: "ou" = [u] and "o" = [o] (as the French orthography);
- standard: "o" = [u] and "ò" = [o] (as the Occitan, Genoese and Milanese orthography).
- Now the piedmontese orthography is a few more detailed. We can use the convention "ò" = [o] because the vowel [o] in piedmontese is only tonic.
- Most probably Capello used the French orthografy because in 1814 the Piedmont was part of French Empire.
